If you were fired today, what would your replacement start doing that you are not? And what would they stop doing that you are?
Eric Partaker asked us this question in week 1 of his CEO Accelerator Program. It instantly sparked deep self-reflection.
For most of my career, my work faced inward. Shaping product and technology strategy, and executing on it.
My new role faces outward. It’s about making the case for what we’ve built to industry leaders, partners and investors.
I knew this the day I accepted the role. But Eric’s question brought into focus how much of my old training, habits and biases I’d brought with me.
My replacement would focus outwards on positioning, relationships, and external communication while internally aligning our team on vision and execution. So that’s where my hours are going.
Our replacement would not be encumbered by our prior experience. That’s their whole advantage, and we don’t have to get fired to claim it.
💥Write both lists today. Show up tomorrow as your own replacement.
So here are my questions for you: what’s the meeting, report or habit you finally killed that nobody missed? And what would your AI-literate replacement reinvent after assuming your job?
